I chose Tris for this for a reason though, I feel he represents a little acknowledged group of people in the queer community, (intersexed/genderqueer) Which is an important group to me personally to represent. I want the meaning to be deeper than surface view, no one is so simple as just their outer appearance. I should hope the fact that this piece was posted on spirit day in honor of it would make people think twice before assuming he was female : ) Just like you did! So I guess it worked ok XD
Personally, I was really glad you chose Tris for this. My trans friends say they sometimes feel shafted by the LGBTQAI community--lots of LGB, not so much the other letters. Minority within a minority. I find it's usually a matter of a lack of awareness rather than outright bigotry or malice, so yay for pretty Tris bringing attention to it!
(btw, I'm so never ever deleting this pic from my deviation inbox ehehehe)
yeah right! was a good idea to post it on spirit day and I'm absolutely fan of your intersexed/genderqueer motives! not only because you're great in drawing, but also because someone takes care of this subject!
If he looked more like a boy, it would better emphasise the theme of purple day, I guess. I think this way is better because it doesn't immediately hit you untill you notice the adam's apple. It more effectively takes people out of their comfort zone.
: D Well Tristan also represents a not so often acknowledged group in the queer crowd as well (genderqueer or more specifically for him, intersexed people), so I thought it would be a nice emphasis to have. <3
You know, from your pictures I feel like I know a bit about your characters. In my head, the story of this was Tristan being Tristan and Sascha being socially awkward about it before going about his business, dropping plants because he's so flustered
