eye instructions

1. First you start with a quick sketch. Make sure it’s light. Mine is only darker so u can see everything. Also, while your sketching, take note of little details, like where the shine is on the eye, where the creases are etc.
2. Next you start shading in the iris, making sure to shade the lines and dark areas in the iris, this makes the eye look more alive.
3. Now start shading the white area around the iris, don’t just leave it white unless its like that in the pic your drawing from. Always make sure you note where all the shine is, else your eye will look unrealistic. Unless the picture you’re drawing from has no shine in the eye, you always want to add it. Also, make sure to shade in the shadow the eyelashes make. Sometimes this will be flat, other times you’ll actually be able to see the separate shadows from the eyelashes. You can see a slight example of this in the pic above. But the lashes will be added last.
4. Lastly, shade in the skin area around the eyes, then after finishing the skin, use a .5 lead pencil to fill in the eyelahes. Try to follow the picture your using as a model when drawing the lashes, or else they might look too uniform.
