Words become futile in describing the profound and extensive context in Hate Crime 2 by ~shley77, which in that itself is a remarkable accomplishment. Perceive as you will... ( Suggested by Mollinda and Featured by snowmask )

It's terrifying to what lengths people go to just to hurt a person because of who they are. I think people just don't like what scares and confuses them, and we attack anything that does that to us. It's sad but true (of course, not all of us are like that, though!) this is a deeply powerful picture, and also very distressing!

Okay..wow. I was kinda speechless and stared at it, but thats some amazing work!
It shows so many emotions and you really can feel the fear. It is haunting and that kind of picture, which you have in mind when you read a book by stephen king.
I was only wondering that he has a breast?^^ But that totaly fit in the scene, you see that drawing as a whole and that whole drawing is a bit quirky, deep, kinda nightmare and just amazing.

this is peculiar in that the victim appears to be very distinctly both genders. the face is decidedly masculine, while the exposed breast is obviously female.
most intriguing.

This is beautiful. I love the lighting, I love that it shines from the mouths of the offenders and exposes the expression of fear and ..something else i can't put my finger on..on the victim's face, and the naked breast.the offence is in laying bare things about people that they've tried to keep hidden, and condemning them for it.. perhaps i am wrong but that is how i interpreted this..we all so naturally equate light with good and darkness with evil. this takes that simple metaphorical connection and destroys it; here light seems to me to be cruelly intrusive and revealing. I also love the blank mask like faces. but the single breast confuses me..i have no clue about the identity of the victim.I suppose that is for the artist to know and the rest of us to speculate:) and i read some of the speculations on this piece, but everyone seems to have a different opinion. I can't decide which one I agree with.
This is really awesome.
(and so is the rest of ur gallery)
on a more fun note, reminds me of jack-o-lanterns:)

This piece is so intense.
It's almost painful, to first see his face and expression, and then have my eyes led from there to his exposed breast, and then realize that the light illuminating him is from the attackers and almost seems to be mocking him. If that makes sense.
(painful in the "this is such powerful art" way)
So combined with the traumatic experience is the shame of being exposed like that. To me it seems like he's looking at the viewer, expecting that they will judge him and hurt him as well. Perhaps able to "detach" from the attack, but painfully aware of being exposed to the viewer.

While I hope I will never be able to identify with his exact situation, I can identify with the shame of being judged and viewed and (thankfully only verbally) assaulted as a female, despite identifying and presenting as male, due to situations that make my chest more conspicuous and confusion-inducing to people around me. (e.g. worn-out binder, backpack strap pressing/shaping the wrong way, running outside in PJs to see rain/rainbow and forgetting I'm not bound under my t-shirt or hoodie, mother entering my room without knocking when I'm shirtless and closing the door very slowly before noticing me and there's a stranger in the hall behind her, etc)

The contrast, texture, and color choice also adds to the overall epicness.
(I apologize for being randomly informal, but doing finals-week critiques in IB Visual Art makes me in this mood where I like sharing my views about someone's art piece, but at the same time enjoy being only semi-formal about it because I won't get penalized for speaking informally or not sticking to "an artist's vocabulary")

It also makes me happy that this piece got featured. It's an amazing piece, with a strong message that needs to be shared, and will hopefully spread knowledge and awareness of such issues, or at least make a lot of "not so aware of trans*" or "don't really knowingly interact with LGBTQetc" people think about gender and/in society and hate crimes and that sort of thing.
And it is also my opinion that you have high levels of artistic/creative skill/talent that make this feature well-deserved.

by the way, this art is in and of itself a 'touchy subject'. saying I hid your comments 'retardedly' because it's a 'touchy subject' is a little ridiculous. If you were actually discussing the art work in relation to this debate, as that is what should be discussed in comments here, and a little more respect was practiced, I would have no problem leaving them open for everyone to see, as i have done many a time.
Now please stop. This is really unnecessary.

Now THAT, I can understand (the art part, not the respect crap, I really don't care). Had you stated that in the beginning I wouldn't have flipped you off. So all in all, fair enough, issue dropped..... even though I practically said that already.

I don't care who's page it is. You just hid comments that took a while to type up - THAT was rude. I'll be more than happy to leave everything as it is currently as I have nothing else more to say to you - don't respond to me and I won't respond to you. And oh, by the way, when "telling mommy" becomes a threat, I'll be more scared, k? I'll also do you a favor - see your dev page? There's a button everyone seems to be fond of that allows you to block people from telling you anything you don't want to hear, even if it's true and you're wrong. I pre-emptively blocked you from having any say on my page, I suggest, so that you can have a state of closure in your own mind - since I'm sure that simply telling you I'm not coming back unless you turn up in my inbox isn't enough - that you do the same. Bad day to you.

hate crime means a crime made against some particular ethnic, sexually oriented person or socioeconnomic group.

Mostly hate crimes are done to homosexuals and race minorities.

In this case it is done to a lesbian, very similar to the case of "Boys dont cry" which is a movie based on a real life case.

Other interesting fact is that mostly 80% hate crimes are done by homosexuals to other homosexuals.

This case could be a masculine woman, but I'm assuming that the person in this art piece is a transgender man. In "Boys don't cry" the character is a transgender boy, not a lesbian.

Transgender/transsexual is related to the sex/gender that a person feels they are.

Homosexual is related to the sex/gender of whom a person feels they are attracted to.

I'm just curious, never having heard that statistic... where did you hear it?

Well I saw a class named "hate crimes" and this class was dictated by a lesbian. She is know working in Canada on gender crimes. In this class we read several essays and works on hate crimes...maybe I forgot or something but i think it was 80% of hate crimes are done by represed homosexuals (that havent go out the closet).

Dude in boys dont cry is a woman that wants to be a man. Is a transvestido woman(in spanish dont remind how to say it in english) . not a transgender transgernder is when they change gender no just the clothes as a transvesti.
